Participation privacy
Consent text version consent-1. Taking part is voluntary and you can skip any question.
What we store
- Your answers
- Which question set and consent text you saw
- The hour you submitted (not the minute)
- A random anonymous identifier derived from a cookie, used to stop duplicate submissions
- A one-way fingerprint of your network address that changes every day, used only to detect abuse
- How long the form took (to detect automated submissions)
- Your optional coarse context, only if you consent to it
What we never store
- Your name, email address, or account
- Your IP address or browser details in readable form
- Precise location
- Free-text answers
- Any tracking across other websites
How results are shown
Responses come from people who chose to visit this site. They are not a random sample and do not represent the American population. No margin of error can be calculated, and results are never weighted to look representative.
Results show how different people answered. They do not rank groups, and no answer is treated as better or worse than another.
Combined results are shown only when enough people answered. A group (such as a region) is shown only if at least 30 people in it answered, and never if hiding smaller groups would still let someone work out their answers by subtraction.
How long we keep it
- Network fingerprints are erased after 30 days.
- Responses held for abuse review that are never released are deleted after 180 days.
- All individual responses are deleted on 2029-02-05 (90 days after the hatch). Only combined results remain.
- You can delete your own responses at any time, using this browser or your receipt code.
Does this change the egg?
Not at present. Participation is stored separately from the documented evidence that shapes the egg, and it cannot influence the egg unless a methodology for doing so is reviewed, published and approved first. Even then, its influence would be strictly bounded.
